More than three-quarters of the country's population lives in Mbini on the mainland, where 80% of the inhabitants are Bantu Fang people, with the others being Kombe, Barengue, and Bujeba. Bioko Island is inhabited by the indigenous Bubi people, as well as Fang people who migrated from Mbini, descendants of freed slaves, and immigrants from Nigeria.
