Transcendental term

…Many poetic expressions and metaphors, such as the smiling meadow and the autumn of life, are based on proportional analogy, and when the word “health” is used in different ways to describe man himself, his complexion, his urine, his living environment, his food, his medicines, etc., these various meanings are analogical in so far as they are unified in relation to the “health” of man himself. In contrast, proper philosophical analogy is found in transcendental terms, such as beauty, goodness, truth, oneness, and existence, which are used beyond a specific “genus.” These terms are predicated analogically, that is, fundamentally different, yet maintaining a certain identity of meaning, beyond the boundaries of “genuses” or “categories” such as “substance,” “quantity,” “quality,” and “relation,” and beyond the distinction between finite and infinite existence. Among them, “ens” occupies a central position, and thus the “analogous character of existence,” or “analogia entis of existence,” is emphasized. …
