Kanhizakura - Kanhizakura

A deciduous tall tree of the Rosaceae family (APG classification: Rosaceae). It is also called Hikanzakura. The bark is gray-black with prominent horizontal lenticels. In February and March, before the leaves appear, the scarlet flowers bloom half-open and downward in a bell shape. It is planted in gardens in the Kanto region and south. It is native to southern mainland China and Taiwan, and has become naturalized in Okinawa.

Japanese:

バラ科(APG分類:バラ科)の落葉高木。ヒカンザクラともよばれる。樹皮は灰黒色で横の皮目が目だつ。2~3月、葉の出る前に、緋紅(ひこう)色の花が鐘状に半開して下向きに咲く。関東地方以南で庭に植えられる。中国大陸南部、台湾原産で沖縄では野生化している。
