… Returning to the land, Aeneas finally reaches Latium, where the local king, Latinus, promises him the hand of his daughter Lavinia and land to build a kingdom on. But the daughter already has many suitors in the area, and Aeneas must contend with the tribes of Italy, especially Turnus, king of the Rutulians. After defeating him in single combat and securing his rule as Latinus' successor, Aeneas names the newly founded city Lavinium after his wife. …
