On the other hand, the "Oasis Road", "Oasis Route", and "Silk Road" that runs east-west connecting the oasis cities of Central and Western Asia seems to have been in use even before the famous Zhang Qian's westward journey in the 2nd century BC. Prior to that, during the Warring States period, soft jade native to the Khotan region was brought to China via this route and was highly valued as "Yushi's Jade" or "Kunlun Jade".
