Lipit-Ishtar (English spelling)

…A Sumerian law code established by the fifth king of the Isin Kingdom, Lipit-Ishtar, in the late 20th century BCE. The original was apparently inscribed on a stone monument, but only about one-third of the text, and slightly less than one-fifth of the legal portion (38 articles), have survived to the present day in clay tablet copies.
