Cambyses [II] - Cambyses
King of the Achaemenid Empire of Persia (reigned 530-522 BC). Son of Cyrus II. In 525 BC, he conquered Egypt and unified the Orient. He later invaded Nubia, but the expedition was called off. In 522 BC, he lost his throne in a rebellion by the Magian priest Gaumata, who pretended to be the king's younger brother.
