Year of death: May 2, 2nd year of Ansei (June 15, 1855) Year of birth: Tenmei 6 (1786) A tea master from the late Edo period. A doctor. The founder of the Ogawa school of tea. A native of Kyoto. His name was Hironobu. He also went by the pen names of Kashin and Koraku. He initially studied medicine under Ogino Taishu, then took over the family business and established a family. At the age of 50, he suddenly gave up the business, devoted himself to tea, and founded the Ogawa school. He devised a rational method of making tea.
