Tokaido Meishoki - Tokaido Meishoki

A kana zoshi (Japanese folktale). Six volumes and six books. Written by Azai Ryoi. Completed in 1659 (Manji 2). The story follows the traveler Seido Rakuami, who first visits the famous places in Edo, then visits the famous places along the Tokaido with a man he is traveling with, and then continues his leisurely journey to Kyoto. The story is based on the idea that the traveler Seido Rakuami first visits the famous places in Edo, then visits the famous places along the Tokaido with a man he is traveling with, and then travels to Kyoto. The story is a work that educates and introduces the realities of travel along the Tokaido, and includes introductions to the famous places and places, directions along the way, and Rakuami and his friends' kyoka (traditional Japanese poetry), hokke (humorous tales), and humorous tales. The protagonist is in the same vein as Chikusai, and is entertaining, but at the same time, the book is practical as a travel guide, incorporating plenty of "douchu-ki," which is one of the reasons why it was well received by readers.
