A scholar and politician born in Phaleron, a port in Attica, Greece. Dates of birth and death unknown. A disciple of Aristotle, known for his philosophical achievements. He was close to the family of Antipater, the governor of Macedonia and Greece during Alexander the Great's eastern campaign, and was entrusted with the governance of Athens by Antipater's son Cassander (317-307 BC). ギリシアのアッティカの港ファレロンPhalēron生れの学者,政治家。生没年不詳。アリストテレスの弟子で哲学的業績で知られる。アレクサンドロス大王東征の間のマケドニア・ギリシア総督アンティパトロス一族と親しく,アンティパトロスの子カッサンドロスにアテナイ統治をゆだねられた(前317‐前307)。アンティゴノス朝のデメトリオス1世のアテナイ攻略後,エジプトに逃れ,そこで死去した。【井上 一】
