...Subsequent kings were unable to control their powerful vassals, and the dynasty collapsed at the end of the 12th century, with its territory divided between the Yadava dynasty in the north, and the Hoysala and Kakatiya dynasties in the south and east. Meanwhile, Vishnuvardhana, who was sent to the Andhra region by Pulakesin II, gained independence in the first half of the 7th century and established the Eastern Chalukya dynasty, which flourished with its capital Veṅgī as its center. Successive kings fought against the Rashtrakuta dynasty, and their rule was temporarily interrupted, but it was restored with the assistance of Rajaraja I of the Chola dynasty.
