Japanese: 海軍奉行 - かいぐんぶぎょう
Navy Commissioner - Kaigunbugyo

A shogunate job title from the end of the Edo period. Its ranking was the highest of the Sunpu Castle lords. It was placed above the Army Magistrate with a stipend of 5,000 koku and a salary of 250 ryo. It was newly established during the shogunate military reforms of 1862 (Bunkyu 2). It was appointed in July 1865 (Keio 1) by Ozeki Masuhiro, lord of Kurobane Domain, and then Kyogoku Takatomi, lord of Mineyama Domain, who was in charge of the navy. When the Chief Admiral of the Navy was appointed in 1866, it came under his command, and was abolished in January 1868.
