Naval Training School - Kaigundenshujo

This was a naval educational institution of the Edo Shogunate at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate period. It was opened in October 1855 (Ansei 2) in the west residence of the Nagasaki Magistrate's Office, using a warship (later the Kanko Maru) donated by the Netherlands for training, and 22 instructors, including Dutch naval officers, as instructors. Nagai Naoyuki (also read as "Naomune"), who was an inspector based in Nagasaki at the time, was appointed as the director. Daily schedules were set for academic studies and training, and students were shogunate officials and samurai from various domains. Katsu Kaishu, Enomoto Takeaki, Godai Tomoatsu, Kawamura Sumiyoshi (1836-1904), Sano Tsunetami and others studied here, which laid the foundation for the foundation of the navy. It closed in 1859.

幕末の江戸幕府の海軍教育機関。オランダが幕府に献納した軍艦（のち観光丸）を練習用にあて、オランダ海軍士官以下22名を教官として、1855年（安政2）10月、長崎奉行(ぶぎょう)所西屋敷に開設、当時、長崎在勤の目付であった永井尚志(ながいなおゆき)（「なおむね」とも読む）を所長格に任命した。授業は日課を定めて学科、訓練を海陸で行い、伝習生には幕臣、諸藩士が派遣された。勝海舟(かつかいしゅう)、榎本武揚(えのもとたけあき)や五代友厚(ごだいともあつ)、川村純義(かわむらすみよし)（1836―1904）、佐野常民(さのつねたみ)らもここに学び、海軍創設の基礎となった。1859年閉鎖。
