Case - Vagina

Japanese:
Case - Vagina

A cover used to protect books. It is also called a book case or a book set. In works such as "The Tale of Genji," it is called a "chisu" (or "jisu"). It was first made to wrap scrolls, and in ancient China, cases were made from silk or linen (such as in "Book of the Later Han"). Cases from the Nara and Heian periods in Japan were ornate, with thin bamboo as a core, patterns woven from silk thread, bordered all around with brocade, and lined with white silk or scarlet twill. Shosoin has preserved cases from the Tenpyo period, such as the "Saishōōkyō no Chitsu." When the scroll book evolved into the booklet book, the case shape became a foldable type with a thick cardboard core and covered with cloth, but there are also wooden cases (or "kyoban") in which the book is sandwiched between two boards slightly larger than the book and tied together with string.
