Bangadarsan (English spelling)

…His first work, the historical novel Durgeśnandinī (The Lord's Daughter) (1865), heralded the beginning of the golden age of modern Bengali novels. In 1872, he founded the general magazine Baṅgadarśan, which provided a creative outlet for Bengali intellectuals in a wide range of fields, and he also wrote full-length novels, critiques, and essays. The influence of this magazine on Bengali intellectuals, including the young Tagore, is immeasurable.
