Azide

-N=N ⁺ =N ^- Name of the group.
When the azide group is named as a substituent prefix, it is called azide, as in 2-azidobenzenesulfonic acid. Azides substituted with alkyl and acyl groups, _RN3 and _RCON3 , are synthesized by reacting alkyl halides and acyl halides, respectively, with sodium azide.

RCl + NaN ₃ → RN ₃ + NaCl

RCOCl + NaN ₃ → RCON ₃ + NaCl

Acyl azides can be considered as esters of hydrogen azide _HN3 . Aryl azides _ArN3 are synthesized by the reaction of the corresponding diazonium salt with sodium azide or by the reaction of aryl hydrazine with sodium nitrite. Azides in which the hydrogen of hydrogen azide _HN3 is replaced with a metal or halogen are also called azides.

アジド基を置換基接頭辞として命名する場合は，2-アジドベンゼンスルホン酸のように，アジド(azido)という．アルキル基，アシル基が置換したアジドRN₃，RCON₃は，それぞれハロゲン化アルキル，ハロゲン化アシルとアジ化ナトリウムとを反応させて合成される．

RCl ＋ NaN₃ → RN₃ ＋ NaCl

RCOCl ＋ NaN₃ → RCON₃ ＋ NaCl

アシルアジドはアジ化水素HN₃のエステルとみなせる．アリールアジドArN₃は，相当するジアゾニウム塩とアジ化ナトリウムとの反応，あるいはアリールヒドラジンと亜硝酸ナトリウムとの反応によって合成される．アジ化水素HN₃の水素を，金属またはハロゲンで置換したアジ化物も，アジドという．
