…As a high-ranking official in the mid-Qing dynasty, he achieved many things in many areas, but as a scholar, he rejected Song learning and focused on Chinese learning, and directly inherited the learning of Dai Zhen, who tried to elucidate ancient systems and ideas through the study of language and characters. However, his academic field was extremely wide, and he was the culmination of the study of texts during the Qianlong and Jiaqing eras (1736-1820). He established the Xu Jing Temple (Zhejiang) and the Xue Haitang (Guangdong) to promote academic studies, gathered many scholars, and oversaw the compilation of books, contributing greatly to the academic world. His main edited works include the Classical Records of Classics, Commentaries and Collated Notes on the Thirteen Classics, and Commentaries on the Imperial Classics; the Shanzuo Gemstone Journal, the Western Zhejiang Gemstone Journal, and the Jikko Zhai Zhongding Yi Instruments and Instruments Index for epigraphy; the Zhu Ren Biography, the Guangdong Tongzhi, and the Zhejiang Tongzhi, as well as his own anthologies of poetry and prose, such as the Complete Works of the Classical House, the Continued Works of the Classics, and the Collection of Poems of the Classics.

…清朝中期の大官として各方面に治績が多かった一方，学者としては宋学を排して漢学を宗とし，直接には戴震の学問を継承して言語や文字の研究から古代の制度や思想を解明しようとした。しかしその学問領域はきわめて広く，乾隆･嘉慶年間(1736‐1820)における考証学の集大成者で，詁経精舎（こけいしようじや）(浙江)，学海堂(広東)を設立して学術を振興し，多くの学者を集めて書物の編纂事業を統督し，学界に貢献した。その編著の主なものとして，経学に関しては《経籍籑詁》《十三経注疏校勘記》《皇清経解》，金石学に関しては《山左金石志》《西浙金石志》《積古斎鐘鼎彝器款識》，史学･地理学に関しては《疇人伝》《広東通志》《浙江通志》などがあり，自らの詩文集として《経室全集》《同続集》《同詩集》がある。…
