Micronekton

Japanese: micronekton
Micronekton

...Other small groups include sand eels, anchovies, squid fish, scorpionfish, whalefish, bowfin fish, anglerfish, horseshoe fish, and owl eels, totaling about 1,000 species. The most abundant of these are the lanternfish, scorpionfish, and scorpionfish, many of which are less than 10 cm long and are collectively known as micronekton. They are important food sources for useful pelagic animals such as salmon, trout, squid, tuna, dolphins, whales, and fur seals. The mid- and deep-water regions are poor in food organisms, so the feeding habits of the fish that live there show two different adaptations.

From [Plankton]

...However, in reality, it often refers to aquatic organisms collected with plankton nets or buckets. In recent years, krill, crustaceans such as shrimp, and small fish such as lankton, which are intermediate between plankton and nekton in terms of mobility, are called micronekton and are studied as a branch of planktonology. The adaptation to a plankton life is the most striking feature of plankton.
