Japanese: 秧歌 - おうか

A type of Chinese folk performing art. In Chinese, it is called yango. It also means rice planting song. It is a form of prayer for a good harvest, mainly held during the Chinese New Year. It consists of the first part, where people march down the street dancing lightly to music, the second part, where a group dances in a square while drawing geometric patterns to rhythmic music, and the third part, where small-scale singing and dancing are performed simultaneously in various places in the square. It is characterized by the movement of twisting the hips, moving forward on the first three beats and back on the last beat. It is common in rural areas of northern China.
