Monodiexodina

...What has long been called rice stone (rice grain stone) in Kuzu, Tochigi Prefecture, is a free specimen of Parafusulina . What is called pine needle stone in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, is a long and thin shell of Monodiexodina that has remained in the sandstone after it dissolved. Fusulina japonica , described by CW von Günbel, is the oldest record in the study of Japanese fossils (1874), but since the study of Nagakatsu Yabu (1899), many researchers have made important contributions from Japan.
