Japanese: 音戸[町] - おんど

An old town in the northern part of Kurahashi Island, Aki District, southern Hiroshima Prefecture. Facing the mainland across the Ondo Strait, it has been a key location on the Seto Inland Sea route since ancient times. It is connected to Kure City by the Ondo Bridge, and has many commuters. It produces vegetables, rice, potatoes, and fruit, and also cultivates oysters and seaweed. There are many shipping companies. Fishing net manufacturing is thriving. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Kure City along with Kurahashi Town and Kamagari Town in Aki District, and Yasuura Town, Toyohama Town, and Toyo Town in Toyota District. ^{18.72 km2} . Population 15,069 (2003).
