Negroponte

…Population: 210,000 (1991). Also called Évvoia or Negroponte. The island stretches from northwest to southeast, roughly parallel to the Greek mainland, and since the 5th century BC has been connected to Boeotia by a bridge in the central part of the island's west coast.
