…the battle between the Romans and the Celtic Iberian (Celtic) tribes at Numantia (Spanish: Numancia), a strategic point in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula (143-133 BC). In the early 2nd century BC, the Roman state made the Iberian Peninsula a province and oppressed the indigenous peoples in the interior.
