Character drama
〘 noun 〙 A play that emphasizes the character and inner traits of a certain person and expresses the dramatic events that unfold as a result of them. Shakespeare's "Hamlet" and Moliere's "The Miser" are typical examples. ※Youth (1910-11)〈Mori Ogai〉 20 "It is said that fate plays and situation plays have become character plays."
