Giant Megasasou - Giant Megasasou

Herbaceous semi-shrub of the Araceae family. It resembles Umegasasou, but its leaves are oblanceolate, narrow at the base, and lack sawtooth. In July, it produces 3-9 scattered white flowers with 5 petals. It grows in forests on the Pacific coast north of Ibaraki Prefecture and near the coast of Hokkaido, and is widely distributed from the temperate zone to the subarctic zone of the Northern Hemisphere.

イチヤクソウ科の草本状の半低木。ウメガサソウに似るが、葉は倒披針(とうひしん)形で、基部はくさび状に狭まって鋸歯(きょし)がない。7月、白色の5弁花を3～9個散形状につける。茨城県以北の太平洋側、北海道の海岸付近の林内に生え、北半球の温帯から亜寒帯に広く分布する。
