《Penthesilea》(English spelling) Penthesilea

He soon left the military and devoted himself to studying law and philosophy in an attempt to become a civil servant, but neither lasted long, and he eventually decided to become a poet and embarked on a life of writing and wandering. Kleist's play The Schroffensteins (1803) was a masterpiece of German comedy, but his relationship with Goethe deteriorated over the failure of the Weimar premiere of The Broken Jug (1806), considered a masterpiece of German comedy, and his rejection of the tragedy Penthesilea (1808), which represents the pinnacle of Kleist's literature. As a result, his plays, such as Hermann's Battle (1808) and The Prince of Homburg (1810), with the exception of the romantic play Kötchen d'Heilbronn (1808), were not performed or published during his lifetime, and Kleist was ultimately unable to achieve his aspirations as a dramatic poet. The upheaval of the Napoleonic Wars made his life even more precarious and difficult.
