…A decorative thread is a type of thread intended to give a fabric an unusual appearance. It includes heathered threads made by twisting two or more threads of different colors together, and loop or ring threads with loops created here and there.

During spinning, the yarn is automatically twisted at tens to thousands of twists per meter, with strong twist being called hard twist and weak twist, such as in knitted yarn, called loose twist. Some filament yarns have no twist at all, but some are hard twisted or loosely twisted.
