Peripediment

Japanese: peripediment
Peripediment

...The pediment is the transport surface of the gravel produced on the mountain slope, so a thin layer of gravel is usually temporarily deposited on its surface. As the mountain shrinks, the pediment expands, but at the same time, gravel begins to accumulate at the end, forming a depositional pediment, or peri-pediment (bajada). The synthetic alluvial fan in front of the mountain is also called bajada.
