King of the Kingdom of Israel (reigned 884-876 BCE). In the Old Testament, he is portrayed as an unpopular character. He attacked and defeated Zimri, who had murdered King Elah, but Tibni then rose up and Israel was divided into two camps, fighting each other. He became king after Tibni's death. He moved the capital from Tirzah to Samaria, established the foundation of the Omri dynasty, and demonstrated the power of his country to the surrounding nations. His name is inscribed on many Assyrian inscriptions, so we can imagine his fame.

イスラエル王国の王 (在位前 884～876) 。旧約聖書では好ましからぬ人物として描かれている。王エラを殺害したジムリを攻め，これを倒したが，そのあとテブニが立ち，イスラエルは2つの陣営に分れて争った。テブニの死により王として即位。都をテルザからサマリアに移し，オムリ朝の基礎を固め，国威を周囲の諸国に示した。アッシリアの碑文にその名が多く刻まれており，その名声が想像される。
