Mobile wooden tower

This article focuses on the period from the Warring States period to the early modern period, when castles came to play a more important role as bases for controlling territories and expanded in size. It consists of three stages: besiege, approach, storm, and occupation. The first stage aims to isolate the castle politically and militarily, and to cut off communication between the castle and outside supporting forces. The side besieging the castle would bring in military supplies such as military provisions from the land surrounding the castle to prepare for a long-term battle, and prevent those supplies from being used by the attacking side.
