〘Noun〙 A sacred place where divine spirits are invited and enshrined. For this, a hamatoko is placed in the center of the inner sanctuary of the shrine, thick tatami mats are laid on top of it, a shodo is placed on top of it, a shodo is made in the middle, a tamashiro is placed on top, and the shodo is covered with an obusuma. There are various other styles, such as iwakura (rock altar) and himorogi (sacred tree) . ※Taiheiki (late 14th century) 40 "It was said that the portable shrine, sacred tree, and the principal image of the deity on the sacred seat should be brought to Kyoto together."
