Sea of ​​Okhotsk air mass

A cold, humid air mass that appears in the Sea of ​​Okhotsk and off the coast of Sanriku during the rainy season and autumn rains. It belongs to the marine polar air mass. It forms a front with the Ogasawara air mass to the south, so rainy weather continues around Japan. It is an air mass that gradually changes into a marine air mass as the continental Siberian air mass moves into the Sea of ​​Okhotsk and receives water vapor from the sea surface, and it often reaches a height of 2 to 3 kilometers.

梅雨期や秋雨期にオホーツク海や三陸沖に現れる低温多湿な気団。海洋性寒帯気団に属する。南にある小笠原(おがさわら)気団との間に前線をつくるので、日本付近は雨の降りやすい天気が続く。大陸性のシベリア気団がオホーツク海に移動し、海面から水蒸気の補給を受けながらしだいに海洋性に変質した気団で、高さは2～3キロメートルのことが多い。
