It is a unique Buddhist doctrine that sees all phenomenal things, that is, ui, as arising from the action of two types of causes: hetu (direct cause) and pratyaya (indirect cause). It is said that 'he who sees dependent origination sees the law, or truth, and he who sees the law sees dependent origination.'
