…Cherry blossoms have been loved by Japanese people for a long time, and are known overseas as the representative flower of Japan. What is generally called cherry blossoms is a mainly deciduous tree of the genus Prunus and subgenus Prunus of the Rosaceae family, found mainly in the temperate and subtropical zones of the Northern Hemisphere. Many of them bloom simultaneously, making them beautiful and widely admired. In Japan, there are about 10 natural species, including Yamazakura (cherry blossom), Ooyamazakura (cherry blossom), Kasumizakura (cherry blossom), Oshimazakura (cherry blossom), Mamezakura (cherry blossom), Edohigan (cherry blossom), Chojizakura (cherry blossom), Miyamazakura (cherry blossom), and Takanezakura (cherry blossom), and there are about 100 species that grow wild, including varieties and cultivars. …
