Justina

Japanese: ユスティナ(英語表記)Justina
Justina
? ‐388
Wife of the Roman Emperor Valentinian I. Married the usurper Magnentius (reigned 350-353) at a very young age. Later, in 370, she became the wife of Valentinian I and bore him four children: Valentinian II, Justa, Grata, and Galla. After her husband's death in 375, she wielded real power in place of her son Valentinian II, who ascended to the throne at the age of four. A follower of Arian Christianity, she had her son issue a pro-Arian edict in 386, which led to fierce conflict with Ambrose, Bishop of Milan.

Justina

A Christian saint. Her birth and death dates are unknown. Born into a wealthy family, she was baptized in Padua during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, and later martyred by having a sword pierced through her chest. Her veneration has spread since the Church of Santa Giustina, which was built in the city in the 6th century over her tomb, was rebuilt in the 16th century. In art, she is depicted as a young princess, holding a sword pierced through her chest and palm leaves. She is sometimes accompanied by a unicorn (a symbol of chastity), which was also held by the saint of the same name in Antioch. Her feast day is October 7th. [Araki Shigeko]
