In ancient Egyptian temples, the entrance was a pylon (a pylon) between two towers at the front, which contained a colonnaded courtyard, a hypostyle hall, and a sanctuary with ancillary rooms. A typical surviving example is the Temple of Khonsu (Karnak Temple) at Karnak, and although they are later examples, the Temple of Horus at Edfu and the Temple of Hathor at Dendera are also well-preserved examples.
