al-Qushayri (English spelling)

... As seen in the case of Al-Hallaj, who was executed in 922 for identifying himself with God, the Sunni ulama tended to view the activities of Sufis as enemies. The conflict between the two was overcome through the efforts of Qushayrī (986-1074) and Ghazali, and the reconciliation of Sunni Islam and Sufi thought was realized. Along with this phenomenon, another thing that should be noted is the phenomenon of collectivization of Sufi activities.
