Spring Day - Harunohi

A collection of haiku poems. One volume. Compiled by Kakei. Titled "Haruno Nichinzen". Published in 1686 (Jokyo 3). The second of the "Seven Haikai Collections". Contains three volumes of immortal poems performed by Owari poets Kakei, Nomizu, Etsujin, and Tanko, one additional collection, and 58 seasonal hokku (hokku) by various poets in the region. This work is a sequel to "Fuyu no Hi" (Winter Days), and all of the renku poems included are from spring performances, but Basho does not participate in the renku, and only three verses, such as "An old pond, a frog jumps into the water, to hear" are included in the hokku section. Both the renku and the hokku are much simpler and more moderate than those in "Winter Days," and as such there is less poetic tension.

俳諧撰集(はいかいせんしゅう)。一冊。荷兮(かけい)編。題簽(だいせん)「波留濃日　全」。1686年（貞享3）刊。「俳諧七部集」の第二集。尾張(おわり)俳人荷兮、野水(やすい)、越人(えつじん)、旦藁(たんこう)らによって興行された歌仙三巻、追加表合(おもてあわせ)1、および同地方諸家の四季発句(ほっく)58句を収録する。本書は『冬の日』の続編たる性格をもち、所収の連句はいずれも春季の興行だが、連句には芭蕉(ばしょう)は一座せず、発句の部に「古池や蛙(かはづ)飛こむ水のをと」など三句が入集(にっしゅう)するにすぎない。連句、発句ともに、『冬の日』よりはるかに平易で穏健なものになっており、それだけに詩的緊張感は少ない。
