Mr. Onodera - Onodera Uji

Japanese: 小野寺氏 - おのでらうじ

A group of warriors from the Middle Ages. Their ancestor was Onodera Zenji Yoshihiro, the son of Fujiwara no Hidesato-lineage Yamauchi Sudo Yoshimichi, who made Onodera Yasu in Shimotsuke Province his family home in the late Heian period. During the time of his son Michitsuna, they served under Minamoto no Yoritomo and became Kanto Gokenin (vassals of the shogunate), expanding their territory. Michitsuna, Michiharu, Yasumichi, Michikage, and Chikamichi were the heads of the clan, and the clan branched out into the following branches: Michitsuna's son Hidemichi, Michiharu's son Michihide and Michiuji. The Onodera clan of Michifusa lineage, whose family home was in Nitta and Toyone counties in Mutsu Province, is also thought to have branched out in the early Kamakura period. After the Nanboku-cho period, it was the Michiuji line that grew into local lords in Shimotsuke Province, relying on Onodera Yasu, but it was the clan based in Ogatsu County in Dewa Province that was appointed Kyoto fuchishu by the Muromachi Shogunate, given land in Kyoto, and became a powerful feudal lord.

中世の武士団。平安末期，下野国小野寺保を名字の地とした，藤原秀郷流山内首藤義通の子，小野寺禅師義寛を始祖とする。その子通綱のとき，源頼朝の麾下（きか）に参じて関東御家人に列し，所領を拡大。通綱―通業―泰通―通景―周通が惣領であり，通綱の子秀通系，通業の子通秀･通氏系など一族を分出した。陸奥国新田･登米（とよね）両郡を名字の地とした通房系小野寺氏も，鎌倉初期分出の一族とみられる。南北朝期以後，小野寺保に拠り下野の国人に成長したのは通氏系であるが，室町将軍家から京都扶持衆に指名，京都屋地を与えられ，有力領主となったのは，出羽国雄勝（おかち）郡を本拠とした一族である。
