Therefore, there was little contact between white immigrants and the indigenous peoples in their daily lives, and as the United States expanded westward, conflicts between whites and the indigenous peoples continued, and the former used force to subjugate the latter and drive them into reservations, so segregation became the basic principle in the relationship between whites and the indigenous peoples. Blacks in the South were considered to be inferior beings, subhuman, imported from Africa for the production of cotton plantations, so segregation was even stricter there. …
