Excalibur

…Here is one impressive scene involving hands from the Arthurian legend. King Arthur received the sword Excalibur from the hand of the Lady of the Lake who stood on the water's surface. When King Arthur died, he had his subordinate Bedivere throw it back into the lake. A hand emerged from the water to catch the sword and sink below the surface. In the Old Testament, in order to show his divinity to the people, Yahweh had Moses perform miracles: when his staff was taken from his hand, it turned into a snake, but when he picked it up, it returned to its original state; and when he took his hand out of his bosom, it became a leprous hand, but when he put it back in his bosom and took it out, it returned to its original state (Exodus 4:3-7). …
