In general, they have a strong taste of simple home cooking, and traditional dishes include Dutch hutspot, made by simmering beef, potatoes and onions until soft and mashed, and Belgian eel in green sauce. Dishes made with fresh seafood caught in the North Sea, such as flounder, herring, cod and mussels, are also delicious.
