Canada has LM Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables (1908), but its forte is in animal stories pioneered by ET Seton and GD Roberts from the end of the 19th century, and this tradition lives on in F. Mowat's My Pet Owl (1961) and S. Bunford's The Incredible Journey (1977). The recent rise of Australian children's literature has been remarkable.
