Japanese: 月舘[町] - つきだて

A former town in Date County, northeastern Fukushima Prefecture. It is located in the middle reaches of the Hirose River, a tributary of the Abukuma River. It produces rice, cucumbers, Chinese chives, and fruit. There are low-voltage and electrical machinery factories. Shimotedo was originally a small castle town of the Tachibana clan. In January 2006, it merged with Date Town, Yanagawa Town, Hobara Town, and Ryozen Town in Date County to become a city, Date City. 43.63 ^km2 . 4,692 people (2003).
