[Dining Kitchen]
The English word for kitchen is "kitchen," which also comes from the medieval Latin word "coquina," meaning cooking or kitchen, in German and French. When public housing began in Japan in 1955, kitchens were labeled "K" and wooden-paneled rooms with cooking facilities were labeled "DK" (dining kitchen), with the 2DK floor plan consisting of two rooms and a DK becoming the standard.
