...It cannot be denied that the Négritude movement, which advocates the coexistence of the dead and the living, the unity of nature and humans, and the essential value of black over white, became the philosophical pillar of African nationalism. However, Négritude's position of prioritizing culture, collective experience over the individual, and classless emphasis on race has drawn criticism from the English-speaking world, including Mphahlele, Soyinka, and David Rubadiri (1930-), who respect the creative spirit of the individual and place the utmost importance on solving political problems. In fact, Yambo Ouologuem's (1940-) "Oblige des Violence" (1968), which depicts the cycle of brutal power struggles within traditional Africa, was perceived as a declaration by a French-speaking writer himself that Négritude was over. ...
