The Nalanda Temple, where the Madhyamaka school of Nagarjuna in southern and central India and the Yogacara school of Asanga and Vasubandhu in northern and central India came into contact, became the center of esoteric Buddhism during the Pala dynasty. Esoteric Buddhism was established when Buddhism tried to compromise with and revive Hinduism, which had absorbed Brahmanism, in order to cope with its rise.
