A former town in Aida County, eastern Okayama Prefecture. The main settlement is Fukumoto on the left bank of the Yoshino River, a tributary of the Yoshii River. In addition to tea, the town is also famous for cultivating grapes and shiitake mushrooms. In March 2005, it merged with Katsuta Town in Katsuta County, Ohara Town in Aida County, Mimasaka Town, Sakuto Town, and Higashiawakura Village to become a city. 63.41 km2 . 3,582 people (2003).
