...2231m above sea level. In Sinhala it is called Mt. Samanala, and has long been the object of religious climbing as it is the home of the god Saman, one of the guardian deities of the island. At the summit is a rock with large footprints engraved on it, and it is a sacred place for each religion: Buddhists call it the Gautama Buddha's Footprint (Sri Pada), Hindus call it the footprint of the dancing Lord Shiva, and Muslims call it the footprint of Adam standing on one leg.
