Satellite Center (English)

...In residential areas, residential shopping districts (peripheral shopping districts) that gather everyday goods and everyday service businesses are formed here and there, and such stores are scattered around. In large cities, satellite centers that replace city center businesses may be formed in parts of residential areas. For example, in Tokyo, there is the business district of Marunouchi, the entertainment districts of Hibiya and Yurakucho, the central business districts of Nihonbashi, Kyobashi, and Shinbashi, the wholesale business district from Ningyocho to Hakozaki, the Sumida River-side Sumida (Koto) industrial district, and the southern industrial districts of Kamata and Rokugo. The CBD of Tokyo is the whole area excluding the industrial districts.
